One year later

I have started and stopped writing numerous times and I always either forget to save or just say the heck with it.
It has been a year since my last entry. The boat has not moved in that year except to sway in the surge. I am sure that if I jump in the water and look underneath, I will see solid growth to the bottom.
We, however, have not been as immobile as the boat. We have gone back to Canada a few times..once towing a new little boat for something to have fun with whenever we are home. It is a 1959 Dorsett Catalina. It is, to quote Jane, "A cute little boat." However it does need a bit of work. We have also toured all over Ensenada and the wine valley.
The biggest trip we made was to drive down the Baja with friends. We had a wonderful trip stopping to go to all those places that you can't go by boat and we also checked out all the marinas ...LaPaz and Cabo. The Baja is an amazing place and the geography changes every few miles. It is amazing to be driving along in sand and cactus and suddenly you drop into a lush valley of palm trees and lakes.
We loved Cabo...great tourist and party town, but I couldn't live there..too busy. LaPaz again was very nice but don't think I would want to live there.
We plan on heading over to San Fillipe for a few days and then we want to take a long drive around to San Carlos and Guaymus to check them out and see if we want to move the boat there.
More to follow.

Now lets see if I remember how to do this. I have written bloody long entries and then forgotten to save them or lost the connection..bottom line..I lost them.
So with no further ado...We are still in Ensenada Mexico. I just looked back and saw that my last post was a few days ago..May 2010. Since that time not a lot of anything different has happened. We are much more settled in now, I think that the bottom of the boat is firmly attached to the bottom of the bay. I have noticed that the surge just doesn'tr seem to move the boat like it used to.
We have seen friends head down the coast and turn around a come back. And we talk about going further down the coast, but... we can afford to live here, the people are nice and we really like it here!
We had Kendra and Alex come down last June for a week and unfortunately it was cold and miserable the whole time they were here. Now Mike and Diane are scheduled to come and visit for a week starting next week and the forcast is for cloudy and cool. If this keeps up everytime someone is coming for a visit..soon we will not have to worry about people coming to see us! No one will believe I didn't get this tan from a tanning bed!
We have a new live-aboard crew member since July 1. Nina, our ferocious 7 lb chihuahua! She figures that she is the captain of the boat and the we need her permission to do anything! She is rapidly becoming the marina favorite! Everyone always have time to stop, talk and pet Nina. Needless to say, evryone knows her name! Nina is Janes constant companion except the other day when Jane threw her off the kayak! Jane says Nina fell off, but I have noticed the power struggle between them. I have given in to them..I just say yes dear to either of them and do as they ask! I am so hard done by!
I am going to call it a day and save this before the unexpected happens. I will catch up some m ore after our guests leave!

Wow has it really been that long since I updated the site? I had better get my butt in gear and at least write somethin g.
We are living the good life here. Between the resort facilities and the town, we are quite comfortable. We did take a short break( 5 WEEKS) and went home to get the truck. Now there is no stopping us. We have been all around Ensenada trying to find things we need and want. This is made a little more difficult by not having yellow pages and not speaking the language to ask directions. That and the streets don't all have name signs. So the whole time you are driving around, there is a lot of counting going on(that was the 3rd street right?)
If I ever remember to take my camera with us when we go out, I will get some photos and try to upload some onto the site. Thats it for now..
hasta luego

We have finally reached Mexico. We have stopped at Ensenada for at least a month, to rest up from our arduous trip! Boy oh boy..we have been pushing ourselves all down the coast..it took us 6 months and 2 days to get here from home! Talk about fast flying!
It must be kismet..our first day here and the sun is shining, there is no wind and we have been accepted into the local boaters network. We did miss the Wednesday morning boaters breaky, but we had to clear in and become legal. I sure am glad we had someone along who could speak the language! We really didn't have to do much..just give money and fill out forms!
There are a few Canadians in here but we haven't met them yet..I am sure that will happen soon tho. But, first things first..off to do the exciting stuff..laundry!

Well, the birds are singing and the bells are ringing..we have finally reached a milestone..San Diego..we are here!
When I last left you, we were in Marina Del Rey. We left there at 6 in the morning and under power all the way, we pulled into Dana Point looking forward to pulling into a slip and having hot showers and then hit the sack. Well the best laid plans..they had no slips for a boat as big as ours..so off we went to anchor. Of course the wind was blowing hard and making life difficult but we prevailed and finally got the anchor down (kind of where we wanted it) and we settled in to have a drink and some supper and as we did, the wind went away! We had the best nights sleep at anchor that we have had for some time now. No noise, no boat traffic, no planes..just our own snoring!
We left there the next morning bright and early and we again ran under power for the day..no wind. It was a nice day except for the fog and playing tag in the fog with all the warships and hoovercraft. And then when we finally got to the entrance channel for San Diego, we were being chased by a rather large fueller. We managed to stay ahead of him and out of his way right to the point where we had to turn off. We pulled into the police docks and after much to do, got a slip for the boat. I am pretty sure we are going to spend a few days here to get a few things bought and done.
Stay tuned for more exciting episodes!
